THE LORD is King, and hath put on glorious apparel; * the LORD hath put on his apparel, and girded himself with strength.
 
He hath made the round world so sure, * that it cannot be moved.
 
Ever since the world began, hath thy seat been prepared: * thou art from everlasting.
 
The floods are risen, O LORD, the floods have lift up their voice; * the floods lift up their waves.
 
The waves of the sea are mighty, and rage horribly; * but yet the LORD, who dwelleth on high, is mightier.
 
Thy testimonies, O LORD, are very sure: * holiness becometh thine house for ever.

O SING unto the LORD a new song; * for he hath done marvellous things.
 
With his own right hand, and with his holy arm, * hath he gotten himself the victory.
 
The LORD declared his salvation; * his righteousness hath he openly showed in the sight of the heathen.
 
He hath remembered his mercy and truth toward the house of Israel; * and all the ends of the world have seen the salvation of our God.
 
Show yourselves joyful unto the LORD, all ye lands; * sing, rejoice, and give thanks.
 
Praise the LORD upon the harp; * sing to the harp with a psalm of thanksgiving.
 
With trumpets also and shawms, * O show yourselves joyful before the LORD, the King.
 
Let the sea make a noise, and all that therein is; * the round world, and they that dwell therein.
 
Let the floods clap their hands, and let the hills be joyful together before the LORD; * for he is come to judge the earth.
 
With righteousness shall he judge the world, * and the peoples with equity.

Dominion and fear are with him, he maketh peace in his high places. Is there any number of his armies? and upon whom doth not his light arise? How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight. How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm? Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering. He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them. He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it. He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end. The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof. He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud. By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent. Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?

The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed. And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread. Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread. Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread? Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

LORD, we beseech thee, grant thy people grace to withstand the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil; and with pure hearts and minds to follow thee, the only God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
