I WILL give thanks unto thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; * I will speak of all thy marvellous works.
 
I will be glad and rejoice in thee; * yea, my songs will I make of thy Name, O thou Most Highest.
 
While mine enemies are driven back, * they shall fall and perish at thy presence.
 
For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; * thou art set in the throne that judgest right.
 
Thou hast rebuked the heathen, and destroyed the ungodly; * thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.
 
O thou enemy, thy destructions are come to a perpetual end; * even as the cities which thou hast destroyed, whose memorial is perished with them.
 
But the LORD shall endure for ever; * he hath also prepared his seat for judgment.
 
For he shall judge the world in righteousness, * and minister true judgment unto the people.
 
The LORD also will be a defence for the oppressed, * even a refuge in due time of trouble.
 
And they that know thy Name will put their trust in thee; * for thou, LORD, hast never failed them that seek thee.
 
O praise the LORD which dwelleth in Sion; * show the people of his doings.
 
For when he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them, * and forgetteth not the complaint of the poor.
 
Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider the trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, * thou that liftest me up from the gates of death;
 
That I may show all thy praises within the gates of the daughter of Sion: * I will rejoice in thy salvation.
 
The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made; * in the same net which they hid privily is their foot taken.
 
The LORD is known to execute judgment; * the ungodly is trapped in the work of his own hands.
 
The wicked shall be turned to destruction, * and all the people that forget God.
 
For the poor shall not alway be forgotten; * the patient abiding of the meek shall not perish for ever.
 
Up, LORD, and let not man have the upper hand; * let the heathen be judged in thy sight.
 
Put them in fear, O LORD, * that the heathen may know themselves to be but men.

Then came the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there. And there was no water for the congregation: and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron. And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the Lord! And why have ye brought up the congregation of the Lord into this wilderness, that we and our cattle should die there? And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink. And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the Lord appeared unto them. And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink. And Moses took the rod from before the Lord, as he commanded him. And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. This is the water of Meribah, because the children of Israel strove with the Lord, and he was sanctified in them.

Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son. And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her. And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father. And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John. And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name. And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called. And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all. And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God. And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judaea. And all they that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child shall this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him.

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, who hast given unto us thy servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of the Divine Majesty to worship the Unity; We beseech thee that thou wouldest keep us stedfast in this faith, and evermore defend us from all adversities, who livest and reignest, one God, world without end. Amen.
